Livestrong Program at the YMCA
Co-sponsored by Clover Leaf Lions
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on you—the whole person—not the disease. The free, 12-week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease you back into fitness and help you maintain a healthy weight. You will focus on:
- building muscle mass and strength
- increasing flexibility and endurance
- improving confidence and self-esteem
In addition, learn about wellness, stress reduction techniques and how to continue healthful habits after the program has ended. Just as important, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA encourages a warm spirit of community, creating a safe, comfortable place for you to build companionship with others affected by cancer and share stories and inspiration.

Diabetes Prevention Program
Co-Sponsored by Clover Leaf Lions
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2
diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being. Research by the National Institutes of Health has shown that programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%, and 71% in adults over the age of 60. It is a one-year program (16 weekly sessions, then monthly sessions) in a small group, supportive environment. It is classroom based with learning about healthier eating and increasing physical activity to reduce risk. The goal is to reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week. Qualifications include adults 18+, overweight (BMI>25)*, at risk for or have been diagnosed with prediabetes, a previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes (If a blood test is not available, a qualifying risk score based on a combination of risk factors – family history, age, etc.). Cost is $429 with some insurance plans covering the cost (financial assistance available).
