About Us

Supporting the Albert Lea community for over 110 years

ALBERT LEA FAMILY YMCA

Then. Now. ALWAYS.

First incorporated in 1914 out of an office located at 201 South Broadway Ave, the YMCA began with boys athletics, father-son events, and religious programs. In 1928 the YWCA was organized and classes were taught in sewing, Spanish, painting, charm, and personality. After a few different and separate locations for the YMCA and YWCA they finally moved into the same building (our current location) in 1972, officially becoming the Albert Lea Family YMCA in 1975. Today we are a gathering place for our community to grow together as we build a bright future for Albert Lea. Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Then. Now. ALWAYS
