The Albert Lea Family YMCA is a provider of American Red Cross classes and certifications. Whether you’re looking to become a certified lifeguard (or re-certify), seeking CPR, First Aid, AED training or babysitter training, our programs are designed to equip you with the essential life-saving skills and certifications. Successful course completion involves both written and practical examinations.

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency (EMS) personnel take over. You must be at least 15 years of age by course completion to participate in the Basic Lifeguard course.

Child and Baby-sitting Safety

Provides training in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic care-giving skills, and responding properly to ill or injured children and infants. Must be 11 years of age to participate.

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED-BL

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults children and infants. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session
